How To: Import Multiple Categories in Bulk in Asset Infinity

This form is useful to add multiple categories of assets at once into the asset infinity application.

It can be accessed by going to:

Menu > Import Data > Category.

When we reach here, we will see the following screen:

Here, we can see that we can add data for multiple columns related to the categories.

The fields with a red asterisk “*”, are mandatory and without entering them the category data will not be saved. When we click on save without filling these mandatory fields, we will see the following error:

Here we can see that the mandatory field is highlighted in red indicating that this information needs to be added in the grid.

Considering the category upload screen again, we see:

Here, we have two options of uploading the category data:

1. We can directly enter the information for multiple categories in the grid which is visible to us.

2. We can download the template and fill in the required category information and upload it to add the information.

If we choose the 1st Option, then we need to fill the details regarding the specific columns. These columns are as follows:

The parent category can be specified in the parent category column. For example, If we have several IT Assets with us like Computer, Laptop, then the parent category can be specified as “IT Assets”.

The category name is the exact name of the category for which we will be adding the additional data as well. This category can be a part of the parent category, or it can also be added individually. If we take the above example, and if we want to add Laptop as a category under IT Assets, then we can do that through this column.

We can mention the Category Code, as well as other related information as per our requirements.

When we click on the Save Button, the information gets added into the application.

If we choose the 2nd Option, then, we need to consider the 3 icons above:

These buttons are regarding the download of the reference file, downloading of the template and the upload of the filled template.

The image above is a snapshot of the reference file.

Regarding the download of the template, if we are uploading the data from the excel files.

The template will be visible like this:

Once you have added the information in the downloaded sheet, go back to the application and click on 'Upload' button. Following which, the spreadsheet in the application will look like this:

Click on save.

This will add the categories in the application.
