This section of the application is useful for importing the location data in bulk wherein important details regarding the location can be specified.
This section can be reached by:
Menu > Import Data > Location
When we reach here, we see the following screen:
Here, we can see that we can add data for multiple columns related to the location.
The fields with a red asterisk “*”, are mandatory and without entering them the asset data will not be saved. When we click on save without filling the red asterisk fields, we will see the following error:
Here we can see that the mandatory fields are highlighted in red indicating that this information needs to be added in the grid.
Considering the location upload screen again, we see:
Here, we have two options of uploading the location data:
1. We can directly enter the information for multiple locations in the grid, which is visible to us in the above image.
2. We can download the template and fill in the required location information and upload it to add the information.
If we choose the 1st Option, then we need to fill the details regarding the specific columns. These columns are as follows:
The parent location can be specified in the parent location column. For example, if we have warehouses at several locations in Bengaluru, then the parent location can be specified as “Bengaluru”.
The location is the exact location for which we will be adding the additional data as well. This location can be a part of the parent location, or it can also be added individually.
We can specify the location code, the description of the location, the primary location head who is the authorised user responsible for managing the activities at that location.
We can specify an alternate location head as well who will be able to take care of the requirements in case the Primary Head is not available.
We can specify the authorised email id on which a mail will be sent if the stock level breaches the stock reorder level set by us. Exact Inventory location can also be specified here. The Authorised Signature needs to be added here, to ensure that the data being added here is authentic.
Similarly, the other details can be filled as per the requirements and when we click on the Save Button, the information gets added into the application.
If we choose the 2nd Option, then, we need to consider the 3 coloured boxes below:
These buttons are regarding the download of the reference file, downloading of the template and the upload of the filled template.
We can click on the Button shown in the Green Square which will download a reference file with the location information already filled up. This sample information can be used to understand how the information has to be added and hence by using it we can add our own location information in the template provided to us.
After opening the reference file, we can see above, the information as it will be visible.
The blue coloured box shown above, is regarding the download of the template, if we are uploading the data from the excel files.
The template will be visible like this:
Here, we have added certain sample information in the template.
After adding the information like this, we need to upload this file by clicking on the button shown in the Yellow Box which is for uploading the file.
After uploading, the data gets automatically added in the grid and the following screen will be visible:
Here, after adding the data, when we click on save, the data gets added into the application.
This ends our bulk location upload section.
